About Me

I am a fully qualified and experienced counsellor.  Since achieving a Diploma in Therapeutic Counselling in 2013, I have continued to participate in regular training and supervision to further develop my practice. This is particularly important as an integrative counsellor, as I draw on a wide range of therapeutic approaches, depending on what suits you best.

I am an accredited member of the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy and belong to the BACP Register which is approved by the Professional Standards Authority for Health and Social Care.  I work within the BACP ethical framework which means that I will practice with your best interests in mind and will support you to the best of my ability, keeping both of us safe.  You can find out more at www.bacpregister.org.uk and www.bacp.co.uk.  I am fully insured and have a current DBS check.

Before being a practicing counsellor, I began my career as a youth and community worker, with an MA from Manchester Metropolitan University.  This led me to deliver and manage services with young people, for local authorities and charities, including working for ChildLine, NSPCC for 8 years, both on the phone and online.  This experience supports my counselling practice with young people and means that I have a very strong commitment to empowering people of any age to be the best they can be.  My more recent work experience includes managing NHS funded mental health services across the North West, offering school based counselling and counselling for local authority staff and at a Women's Centre.

At present, I work in Greater Manchester, offering one to one counselling with adults, children and young people and workshops about common mental heath concerns, for both adults and young people.  I also deliver group supervision for staff from a national homelessness charity and a regional mental health charity, individual supervision for counsellors.  As a contracted trainer for Place2Be, a leading national children's counselling charity, I tutor on Level 2, 3 and 4 counselling courses and also deliver wellbeing strategy and mental health training for school leaders and staff.
